April 16-17 -Both sides suffered heavy losses in the battle of Shiloh, won by the Union Troops

April 16 -The Confederacy had to begin to draft soldiers

April 18-25 -Farraqut attacked and captured New Orleans

May -4McClellan's Union Troops occupied Yorktown

June 25-july1 -Confederate forces under Lee saved Richmond in the Battles of the seven days.

Aug.27-30 -Lee Jackson led southern troops to victory in the second Bull Run

1863

Nov.19 - Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg address

1864

Nov.8 - Lincoln was reelected as President.
