When Mrs. Rawden and Mrs. Smith first got us together and talked about doing a ThinkQuest project, we had lots of ideas for possible topics. We were able to easily narrow it down to Wayne County, New York, where we live, because every fourth grader in New York studies the county they live in during Social Studies. We thought it would be a good topic with a large audience since all fourth graders in Wayne County could use it as a learning site and the many visitors who come to the area each year could also learn about what a great place it is to visit.
My name is Taylor and I am in fourth grade. I like to downhill ski, play tennis, soccer, and basketball. I also enjoy swimming, playing Nintendo, using my computer, and doing Math.
My jobs on the Wayne Quest Team were Researcher and Web Page Designer. I also created interactive crossword puzzles, word searches, and a cyberhunt. My favorite thing about this project was that I learned lots of interesting facts about Wayne County, New York.
The most important thing I learned as I worked on this project was that it was hard sticking with it for many months, but it was worth it in the end when I could show it to all of my friends and relatives.
My name is Nicki and I am a fifth grader. In my free time I like to swim, rollerblade, jump on my trampoline, play with my brothers, target practice with my BB gun, go camping at my aunt's cottage, and go boating on Sodus Bay with my family.
My jobs on the Wayne Quest Team were Researcher, Web Page Designer, and Photo Enhancer. I also helped to create an interactive crossword puzzle and a word search. My favorite thing to do while working on this project was creating a page using Front Page.
The most important thing I learned throughout this project was how to use the programs Adobe PhotoShop and Microsoft Front Page. I also realized that it took a lot longer time than I expected to complete the project.
My name is Kim and I am in sixth grade. When I have free time I like to play sports like soccer, basketball, softball, and hang out with my friends. I also like to babysit, watch television and play Sega.
My jobs on the Wayne Quest team were Researcher for the "History" and "People, Places and Events" pages, and Web Page design. I also helped with the "Glossary." My favorite part of ThinkQuest Junior was creating the pages and putting them together, then being able to go to the site and see how it developed from just a small piece to a big web page.
The most important thing I learned while working on ThinkQuest Junior was that it is hard to keep with the same thing over months of working on it, but it was a fun experience for me and my friends. I and I can't wait to show the site to all of my family and friends.
My name is Michelle and I am a sixth grader. In my free time I like to rollerblade, do gymnastics, play soccer and basketball, and participate in school clubs.
My jobs on the Wayne Quest Team were Background Developer, Page Writer for the Religion Page, and an Assistant on the Activity Page. My favorite thing to do while working on this project was creating the Religion Page with Front Page and using Adobe Photo Shop to make the background.
The most important thing I learned during this project was that to get something done, you must work as a team!
Our team would like to thank Mrs. Rawden and Mrs. Smith, our coaches, for helping us put the whole thing together. We would also like to thank Mr. Frink from Edutech for answering questions about ThinkQuest Junior and teaching us how to use Adobe Photo Shop. Mr. Lisanto deserves a thank you for helping us with technical problems. We would like to recognize Andrea Evangelist at the Historical Society, and the town historians who sent us information to read as part of our research. They were Liz Albright (Ontario), Carol Flint (Huron), Robert L. Hoeltzel (Arcadia), Chester Peters (Williamson), and John M. Traas (Walworth).
