Acacia koa can be found on mountainsides at altitudes between 1,500 and 4,000 feet. It is considered to be King of the Hawaiian Forest Trees. When the koa wood grows, it grows tall and straight. If it grows alone or amongst smaller plants its branches spread widely. The leaves are smooth but stiff. The lumber color is light to dark brown.
