Family Fire Safety
Family fire safety is very important here are some tips(as always) on how to stay safe.
- Start by checking all places in your home, wherever it may be, and make sure most things are fireproof.
- You should install a smoke detector in every room of your house.
- It also helps to set a rendezvous point to make sure everybody gets out safely. You should also go over this plan with your family: exits that should be used in case of a fire, the escape point, and the stop-drop-and roll technique, which should be used if you are caught on fire!
- During a fire, leave all of your possesions behind and leave as quickly as possible.
- Remember don't play with matches, candles, lighters or anything else flamable.
- Keep books, paper and clothing at least three feet away from any flame-producing object such as space heaters, irons and toasters.
- Never use a stove or an oven unless an adult is with you and always pay close attention of what you're doing.
- Always keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, so if a fire does start it can be put out quickly.
