Our eye stories

Part of the reason that we decided to do our page on the eye is because we all have vision problems.  Here are stories of our experiences with our eyes.
If you have an interesting story invoving eyes or vision that you would like to post, we'd love to see it!  The story could be about your own experiences, or someone elses that you know.  You can post it on our eye story message board, where you can also view other people's stories.  Have fun!

Elizabeth's story -

When I was in third grade, I got my glasses.  I loved them.  I loved wearing them and I loved the way I looked in them.  But there was one downside, I played soccer.  And when I played soccer, I couldn't wear my glasses.  Things were pretty blurry for me, and my judgment was off.  All my passes went wide of the person I was intending them for, and so I was constantly being yelled at by my coach.  It was driving me crazy! it wasn't my fault that I couldn't see.  Finally, when my eyes started getting worse, I decided to do something about my blurry world.  And that is when I got my contacts.  I was in fifth grade, and I had started to get kind of bored of my glasses.  My first day wearing my contacts was amazing, I didn't have to worry about taking my glasses with me everywhere, and there was no more worrying about being careful to not break them.  What was even more amazing, though, was my first soccer game.  Everyone, the ball, the sidelines, the field, everything was so much clearer.  My passes were direct to the intended player, my shots were accurate, I improved so much.  Because now I could see...clearly.  No more yelling from my coach.  Today I still have my contacts, and they continue to be no-hassle ad easy.  I love them.  I love wearing them, and I love the way I look in them!

Andrew's Story -

I got glasses about eight years ago, at first the glasses made almost no difference. Then I had about 20/50 vision (that means what most people can see at 50 feet away I have to be at 20 feet away to see). Over the past eight years, my prescription has gotten progressively stronger. Now I have 20/600 vision and without my glasses I am almost blind.

Anna's Story -

It's sort of a family hobby to look for and decipher creative license plates on road trips.  It wasn't until I found I couldn't read license plates on an eight hour trip from VA to upper state NY, when I was eleven, that I realized I needed glasses. In fact, after that boring trip, I wanted glasses!

I have now had my glasses for a year, and am noticing that the trees are looking a little fuzzy again.  I'm going to get a new prescription next month.
