Dendrobatidae Family
The Dendrobatidae family contains brightly colored frogs that live in Central and South America. The Dendrobates bicolor, is a flame-red frog with black marks on its back legs. The D. flavopictus is a dark colored frog with bright yellow spots.
These frogs are about one inch long. They live on the ground and have suction pads on the bottom of their toes. They have a strong poison on their skin. The local Indians collect the frog's poison and place it on the ends of their arrows for hunting.
