Tornado Experiment


MATERIALS
*Pail
*Water
*Large Stone (3" wide)
*Shallow Plastic Cup
*Plastic Wrap
*Tape
*Small Stone (1" wide)

Explore

1. Add water to the pail until it is 1/3 full.

2. Put the large stone in the cup. Place the cup in the centerof the pail. The top of the cup must be lower then the top of the pail, but above the level of water.

3. Cover the pail with the plastic wrap. Seal the plastic wrap to the side of the pail with the tape.

4. Gently place the small stone in the center of the plastic wrap. It should be directly above the plastic cup.

5. Put the pail in a warm, sunny place. Let the pail stay in the sunny place for one to one or two days. Observe what happens inside the pail a few times each day. Record your observations.
