Cyclone Vocabulary

     ATMOSPHERE - the layer of gases that goes around the earth and has clouds

    ATMOSPHEREIC PRESSURE - pressure made by the weight of air

    COLD-CORE CYCLONES - they are coldest at the center and warmer at the outside, they are very deep and more intense several thousand feet in the air.

    CYCLONE - a storm or winds moving in a circular motion and spirling inward to a peaceful middle of low pressure, which moves also

    HURRICANE - a large tropical storm that forms above warm seas and has winds which have a velocity of more than 110 kilometers per hour

    LOW-PRESSURE AREA - a place where hot air moves upward and pushes downward on the earths crust with not as much pressure

    NORTHERN HEMISPHERE -  above the equator

    SEVERE - deadly or extreme

    SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE - below the equator

    TORNADO - a violent cylinder shaped cloud with very stong winds

    TYPHOONS - a storm with stong spiral winds that forms over the western Pacific ocean

    WARM-CORE CYCLONES - they are warmer at the centerand colder at the edges, they become weaker at the upper atmosphereand are fairly shallow

     WEATHER - the term of the atmosphere throughout a certain person or place
