If I Had a Million Dollars
Have you parents ever bugged you about making a budget? You had no idea what they were talking about. Then read on because this information is for you. According to the World Almanac for Kids 2000, "a budget is a plan that estimates how much money a person, business, or government will receive during a particular period of time, how much money will be spent and what it will be spent on, and how much money will be left over (if any)."
In order to make a budget you have to have money. Here are some ways you might earn money:
"-allowance from your parents
-interest from savings accounts
-part time jobs" (babysitting, mowing lawns, etc.)
Here are some ways in which you might have to budget the money you earn:
-"school supplies and/or tuition
-savings accounts
-transportation costs
-vacations
-taxes on savings
-gifts
-clothes
-food" (snacks, candy, etc.)
"A balanced budget is when the sum of money you have is equal to the money you spend.
"An unbalanced budget is when the money you have is less then the money you spend."
