Some of the very first pilots were Wilber and Orville Wright. They made the first airplane that worked. They also started the industy of airplane making and called their first plane the Jenny. l
The first airplane planes believe it or not were made about five hundred years ago. They were made by Leonardo da Vince.

The Jenny was the only kind of plane that was used during World War 1. During World War 1 a new type of pilot arose flying everywhere around there present day America. They were called Barnstormers. They would cargo people $5.00 to 10.00 a flight with the common loop de loop and a few free falls if the price was right. They went around collecting money from taking people up in the air and bringing them down safely to the ground, sometimes. If there was a big enough crowd that would keep comming back eatch day they would "ground" themselves and stay there permanently. After the golden age of Barnstormers another group of pilots arose, the Daredevils. The Daredevils would make little flying circuses and ground themselves there permanently. If the crowd got tired the circus would simply shut down. After a while the Barnstormers started shuting down and saying, "I was an Aerial Maniac!"

The history of the airplanes is a very historical one. Once flying used to be a dream but now it is the most popular ways of transportation. Air planes used to only be wood and cloth and went twenty miles per hour. Now air planes are made of high-tech aluminum and steel and go faster than sound. Pilots have changed too. They used to wear goggles and a bicycle helmets. Now they wear high tech pilot helmets with atached goggles and oxygen masks. In World War 1, airplanes were introduced to war, and they probably weren't the safest pilots in the world. The Red Baron and the Sopwith Camel were considered some of the deadliest.

During World War II

soldiers were dropped from planes in parachutes. The atomic bomb was used during WW II. Albert Einstein predicted that mass could be turned into energy. John D. Cockroft and Ernest Walton experimented and comfirmed this theory in 1932. Not until 1939 when a new phenomenon was discovered by Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann, did a net gain of energy seem possible.

Computers helped with radar and mapping areas, also controls and targets the aircrafts weapons. Air planes can also carry torpedos and so can helicopters, which were introduced to war.

Helicopters are a vital part in war. hey carry air to air and air to ground. Some helicopters were made to be fast but most that were made for war were made for
