Most mountains are NOT volcanos. Volcanos are made by the uplifting of great blocks of the earth's crust. An opening is created in the earth's crust and lava flows out of the opening. Volcanos are a special kind of mountain. They can look very different in shape and size, but they all do one thing, erupt. Volcanos can last anywhere from a few hours to many days. Some that have been inactive for many years have erupted in the past. The Volcano named Fuego is the most active volcano ever in Central America's history. He has erupted more than 60 times since 1524. He last erupted on November 10, 1994.
