SAXOPHONE
The saxophone
was invented by a Belgian manufacturer, Adolph Sax. The sax is a single
reed woodwind instrument, although it looks like a brass instrument. The
saxophone is much like the clarinet. The two instruments share some of
the same fingerings. A clarinetist could easily switch to a sax and vise
versa. There are four different kinds of saxophones: soprano, alto, tenor,
and baritone. Alto is probably the most commonly played among elementary
school students. Depending on the player, it can sound mellow or strong.
The saxophone can do everything from pop to jazz.
