Humuhumunukunukuapua'a

The humuhumunukunukuapua'a (rhinecanthus rectangulus) is Hawaii's well-known state fish. It is also called the Reef Triggerfish. It has a dorsal fin of abstract design and it has pelvic spines. It has a black eye and a black triangle at the beginning of its tail and it measures twenty five cm. long. It is shaped like a pig, and it grunts like a pig when taken out of the water. It goes into reef caves to escape predators. You probably won't see this fish on the dinner plate because it is a poor eating fish. It can also be very poisonous in some parts of the Pacific.
