Stars have many different layers, including our Sun.  The outermost layer of the Sun is the Corona.  It is very thin.  It is the Sun's atmosphere.  The next layer is the Chromosphere.  It is also quite thin.  This layer is only visible during a total solar eclipse.  Its name means sphere of colors.  Next is the Photosphere, with a temperature of 9,900° Fahrenheit.  It is the visible layer of the Sun.  Next is the Convective      Zone.  Next is the Radiative Zone.  Last, but not least, is the core, with a temperature of nearly 30 million° Fahrenheit.
