In wind surfing, most experts compete year-round in three types of events:

Slalom – racing with the wind Courseracing – racing against the wind                          Waveriding – performing spectacular feats in high waves

      The current world speed record for sailing for a windsurfer  is 52.21 mph!  It was set by Thierry Bielak on April 14, 1993.  This may not seem fast for a car, but out in the ocean it feels like you are going 200 mph.
