The Bermuda Triangle is on record as causing disappearances for at least 500 years.   Some explanations involve weather.  The disappearances may have been caused by waterspouts or freak waves.  Waterspouts are tornadoes that touch down on water and cause huge water cyclones that can be hazardous to planes and ships.  Freak waves are huge waves that happen without warning.  Some freak waves can be 100 feet tall, and can easily sink many kinds of ships.  There are also nine other places in the world like the Bermuda Triangle, they are all triangles, and they all cause many disappearances.  Some of them are very busy waterways like the Bermuda Triangle.  The Bermuda Triangle has some of the deepest trenches in the world, which can sink ships with their whirlpools.  Speaking of whirlpools, the Sargasso Sea is like a big whirlpool.  It is said to have many disappearances like the Bermuda Triangle.  It is located  along the coast of North America.  It has caused problems for sailors because it has little wind. 

Some other theories include the idea of a time warp in the Bermuda Triangle.  The time warp’s location is not known.  Another one blames UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects).  They believe that the Bermuda Triangle is a collecting station where aliens take our people, ships, planes and other objects back to their planet to study, or perhaps to save them from a holocaust.  Others think that the planes and ships are sent to another dimension.  Some think it is just bad navigation.  Some believe in sea monsters that supposedly sink the ships.  Others think Atlantis is responsible for the disappearances.  Still others think that the people on the boats sailed off to an island and decided to spend the rest of their lives there.  Some believe quicksand is the cause of the disappearances.

Many believe that the disappearances have to do with beings from another world. Some believe alien astronauts do this. Others believe it has to do with the legendary lost city of Atlantis, a place of paradise that mysteriously sank into the ocean.  It could be death rays from Atlantis. They believe there are magic crystals, left from the time of Atlantis, that make the ships sink.  Scuba divers have found places under the ocean that look man-made, but have not found any crystals, or even any real proof that Atlantis existed.  Others believe there are live bombs under the ocean from past wars.  They believe these bombs have exploded, causing ships to sink.  A psychic sees (in his mind) that there are giant whirlpools that suck in everything around them.  These whirlpools also suck the air away from the captains of the ships, or pilots of the planes, and suffocate them.  That is what he believes happens to the ships and planes. 

Even though there have been many strange disappearances, officials still say that the causes of the sinking ships and crashing planes are natural.  They say this because the traffic in the Bermuda Triangle is high, and the statistics of sinking ships and crashing planes are not very high, or unusual.  However, they do not have any specific explanations as to what is happening.  We may never know what is causing the ships and planes to sink, whether it is space aliens or natural causes.  Whatever it is, it may continue to mystify us forever.  

No one knows for sure what causes the mysterious occurrences in the Bermuda Triangle.  Many people have many different theories.  Even witchcraft has been blamed.  It could be a hole in the sky.  It could be an unusual chemical component.  It could be seaquakes, tidal waves, black holes in space, or underwater signaling devices to guide invaders from other planets.  Some people believe it could be a reverse gravity field.  The magnetic variation theory may be the most logical. Maybe it is just a coincidence.
