A Frog or a Toad?

Actually, all Toads are really Frogs!!!

True Frogs are members of the Ranidae family which have more than 400 species.  The characteristics of  Frogs and Toads are:

                              Frogs                     Toads
two big bulging eyes

long, strong, webbed back feet that are adapted for jumping and swimming

smooth or slimy skin because usually frogs tend to like wet environments

Frogs tend to lay their eggs in clusters

small stumpy bodies that have short hind legs (for walking instead of jumping)

warty and dry skin because they usually prefer dryer climates

they have paratoid (or poison) glands behind the eyes

The chest cartilage of Toads is different.

Toads tend to lay their eggs in long chains.
