Harry Houdini's birth name was Enrich Weisz. He was born in Budapest, Hungary March 24,1874. His father , Mayer Samual Wiesz, moved his family to Appleton, Wisconsin when Harry was only two. When harry was eight he sold newspapers and worked as a bootblack. In 1894 Harry met Beatrice " Bess" Raymond, an amateur singer and dancer. They fell in love and married in July. He got really good at his handcuff act. Harry was soon escaping from numerous devices. His last days proved a tragic ending. On October 22, 1926 he was in his dressing room In Canada and some student asked if he could withstand a blow to the stomach. After Houdini answered yes, the student hit him three times in the stomach. On October 31, 1926. Houdini died of peritonitis caused by a ruptured appendix. Houdini was known for his physical condition, which meant he could stand there and take blows to his abdomen by tensing his muscles. The college student hit him without giving him time to prepare.
