What kind of wildlife live in the park? Bighorn sheep roam on the edges, and peaks of the mountains. Moose walk in different places of the park. The Hoary marmots are the largest squirrel in the squirrel family.

 

There are very interesting highlights to look at. When visitors come at this time, wildflowers are in abundance. In the fall there might be some Golden Eagles. Sun Road is supposed to be a scenic drive. There are some lakes and streams that are fed by the glacier like Lake Louise.

 

Glacier National Park`s weather is pretty cold. The best time to go is in the summer. The snow is usually gone by mid-June. Winters at Glacier National Park are really cold and long. August of 1992 a foot of snow fell.

 

Recreations in the park are fun. Glacier has more than 800 miles(1287.2 km)of well marked hiking trails. There is a visitor center. Glacier has fun horse back trips, fishing, boating, and swimming trips.

 

Indians used to live in the park. The Indians even controlled the land. Ancient cultures hunted buffalo across plains. The area was established as a national park on June 18, 1932. The sheltered valleys and bountiful food brought people to this area for thousands of years.

 

There are many plants in Glacier Park. It is well- known for its colorful mountain wildflowers. The main flower is the bear grass lily. It has been designated as the official park flower. The main trees are the Western hemlock, sub alpine, larch, and the mountains are dominated by evergreens.

 

Nature is a great thing. Glacier National Park is a beautiful place. The mountains, the animals, the plants, and nature displayed there are worth a trip.
