when a battle was won, a sacking took place. The Cherokee took all
the gold, silver, furs, skins, etc. During a sacking, a horse was a
prized possession, along with guns and other weapons. Stealing horses was
one of the favorite sports of the young men, because it was reckless and
took athletic skill. |
