There was also an animal that could take any form of another animal, but he would have to stay that way forever.  When the Cherokee were first sent to Earth, they had trouble living on roots and the other plants of the forest.  One day an animal came up that was in no form at all, but changed into a deer.  The animal told the Cherokee that they could kill these animals with objects that had sharp points.  He also said, "Kill me, and have a feast and keep killing animals to keep yourselves healthy and strong."  From that day on, they ate meat of deer and many other animals.  They still picked roots and many other plants to eat.  They had better lives because of the mythical creatures that gave them clues and food.
