The livestock helped them out a lot.  They did not have to go hunting all the time.  They would kill livestock to eat. They had pigs, which they turned into sausage.  The cows were chopped up and made into hamburger patties and big salted slabs.  They used chickens for the eggs and meat. They also raised sheep.  They used them for their milk and the meat.  They also raised horses and used them for hunting the faster game.
