The English who did not work in the missions persuaded the Cherokee men to go to war to get captives; which was against their ways.  Then the Cherokee would trade their captives to the English for things they wanted or needed.  The English then would take the captives back to where they lived, so they could sell them as slaves. Soon, the Indian groups were totally destroying each other.
