"Meow" Sydney the cat was sleepy after a long day. The man's friend, the scribe, had invited them to stay for the night.

Sydney was half asleep when the man ruffled his fur.

"Before you sleep I want to tell you about the social pyramid of our society. At the top is the Pharaoh, the most powerful and richest person. He is our leader. He is royal, like you.

Next comes the government officials such as the priests, police force, and Syrian princes. They have much influence on our every day lives.

Then come the soldiers. They protect us and live fairly good lives.

Following the soldiers are scribes, like my friend. They live good lives, but not the best.

Then come the merchants, artists, and farmers. These people populate much of the society. Finally there are the slaves. They have few rights and no opportunities." That was the last thing Sydney heard before dosing off into a deep sleep.
