Alligators in the Swamp
Equipment: parachute

place: a gym (don't play on grass or blacktop)

Rules: All players sit with their legs straight out under the parachute. They hold onto the edge of the parachute with both hands.
Two players are chosen to be Alligators. They crawl under the parachute.
The alligators try to get the other players by dragging them under the parachute. When a person is grabbed by an alligator, the player must let go of the parachute, raise his hands into the air and scream as loud as he can. (Make sure the doors to the gym are closed!) Players who are pulled under become alligators.
Alligators may work together, but they must always crawl. Play continues until all players are under the parachute.

Variation: Lifeguards. Choose two players to be lifeguards. Their job is to help players who are being pulled under. The lifeguard can grab the players hands as they are being pulled. It is really important for players to scream so the lifeguards know who is being attacked.

Caution: No player is allowed to kick an alligator. (If your school permits, this game is good to play in stocking feet. Our school did not allow this, but the rule "No kicking or the game ends," kept players from kicking each other.)
