Every chance they got the Ancient Egyptians wanted a glimpse at their future. whether it was good or bad. They wanted to obtain divine intervention and this was one of the many ways they thought they could get that.
#1: One way to try to predict the future to solve problems was through dreams. This story is about Khaenwaset, a son of Ramesses II. It was said that the hero's wife couldn't get pregnant and have a child. But one night the queen had a dream in which the gods told her what herbs and potions to use to cure her. She followed the advice and sure enough she got pregnant and had a baby boy. The royal family was overjoyed.
#2: In the era of Ramesses II a
text was written which was not found too long ago. The man who wrote the
text described himself as an outcast living like a "lost dog" because of
the fact that he falsley swore an important oath in the name of the god
Ptah. There is more to the text but at the end it warns all who read it
to never swear false oath in the name of the gods. The Egyptians had many
other tall tales and you can find them if you explore ! ! !
