The Egyptians thought that every person was composed of three essential elements: body, ba, and ka.
BODY: Is a physical body and is unique to each and everyone. As a person starts to age, the body ages and changes. They thought that growing up meant making changes. Then death is the last change.
BA: Each person has a ba. The ba sometimes is thought as "manifestation" which means it is a thing that makes each person different. The ba is close to what we call your "personality".
KA: The ka means the difference between being alive or dead. It is not just one person but everyone us and the gods. The ka enters your body at birth and then the ba and the ka go when you fie. They said the ka meant "sustenance" which is the idea of food for your ka when you are dead in your tomb.
When a person dies they hire people to cry. The hired people give big speeches.
They belived that some days were good and some were very unlucky this was becaus of the different types of events in the God's lives. On a bad days it was good luck to wear amulets to protect yourself. There were not only bad days but horrible days when it was a really good idea to stay at home and pray.
