Colonial time laws were different and sometimes very foolish. The colonial time " Witch Hunt" was the most foolish. Of course some people didn't believe in it but they had to go along.The pilgrims (around the 1600s) like you know, left because their king wanted to make them command his rules. Today we are in a free country but we still have to follow the law.
