Create-Your-Own-Myth

What the Greeks thought:

I guess the imagination is capable of coming up with crazy stories, but this one is beyond anything I can think of! Listen to this:

Zeus was mad at humans because they had deceived him by giving him an offering made of scraps. To punish them, he sent a woman called Pandora to Earth. That doesn’t sound that bad, though. How could a woman punish all humans for going against the gods? She sounds harmless enough. She was created in Hephaestus’ workshop by Hephaestus to look like Aphrodite and was made of white marble. Athena breathed life into her and dressed her beautifully. Her lips were red rubies and her eyes were sapphires. Aphrodite gave her beautiful jewels. Into her mind, Zeus put curiosity. There didn’t seem to be anything bad about her, but there was. It sat inside a small box that Zeus had given her.

Pandora, being curious, naturally wanted to know what was in the box. Zeus had not told her and had instructed her never to open it. She tried to stand not knowing, but she couldn’t bear it. She opened the lid of the box.

Out flew everything bad that mankind could ever think of. These things had not been known to humans before. Pandora was horrified at what she had done. She shut the lid on the box just before hope could escape. Hope had been placed at the bottom of the box by Zeus so that there was something good left in the world. Although Pandora had not let it escape, it eventually did. We use it everyday of our lives.
