Some Effects of the Boycott

Pensacola, Florida is also known as the City of Five Flags. For more than 50 years the Confederate Battle Flag has flown on the grounds outside its City Hall. Recently, the City Hall manager, Tom Bonfield decided to remove the Confederate Battle Flag and replace it with the Confederate Stars and Bars flag.

The Pensacola News Journal reported that Mr. Bonfield wanted to remove the flag before it became an issue. Why would it become an issue? According to Mr. Bonfield, the battle flag was never flown in that city! Removing the flag and replacing it with the correct flag was needed to correctly show the history of flags flown in that city.

Stars and Bars was the flag that should have been flown.
