Flag of Georgia

Georgia's first state flag was flown between 1879-1902. Between 1879 and 1956 they had 4 state flags. In early 1955, an attorney, John Sammons Bell, suggested a new state flag. At the 1956 session of the general assembly state senators, Jefferson Lee Davis and Will Harden introduced Senate Bill 98 to change the Georgia state flag. The change that they wanted was for the flag to have the Confederate Battle Jack on it. The bill was approved and this flag has been flying in Georgia for forty four years. Some people of Georgia along with the N.A.A.C.P want the the Georgia state flag down. The reason why they want the flag down is that is has the Confederate Jack on it. Currently, the people of Georgia are fighting back by boycotting every business that is flying the flag of Georgia. They say that the flag represents hatred and slavery. But the people that are fighting for the flag to stay up, say different groups like the K.K.K are giving this flag a bad name. They say that it is their heritage. Most people are discussed with that flag. The governor of Georgia is trying everything to compromise with the people of Georgia and the N.A.A.C.P, but it is just not working. Several new flags have already been suggested.
