All About Rats

Rats are more intelligent then hamsters, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits and lots of others. Pet rats can learn their names and will come when you call them. Rats are social animals. They enjoy climbing up your arm and sitting on your shoulder. They are very affectionate. They love to have their heads rubbed.

Rats are playful. They can learn to do tricks and play hide and seek. Rats make great pets.

Rats have an excellent sense of smell.

Their hearing is ultrasonic.

Their average life span is 2 - 3 years.

Their average litter size is l2.

Rats' eyesight is moderate.

There is a National Fancy Rat Society.

Teddy Roosevelt had pet rats in the White House.

Rats are nocturnal, but can adjust to their owner's schedule.
