| Anthropomorphism- The
attributing of human shape, form, or characteristics to
God, objects, animals, etc. Anthropomorphism is a literary device most commonly used with animals. Throughout the whole book, The Rats of NIMH uses it. In fact, anything that has an animal or toy talking uses it. In The Rats of NIMH, all the rats and mice can read, write, build, feel, and speak; just like they were human. The Rats of NIMH is actually just one of the many books that uses anthropomorphism. Other books using this literary device include Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, and Ralph S. Mouse. Another big example, actually probably the biggest, would be Disney. Disney uses anthropomorphism in almost every movie. A few of them are The Lion King, The Jungle Book, The Fox and the Hound, The Little Mermaid, and Toy Story. Suggested writing assignment: Write an essay on the question: Is Pokemon an example of anthropomorphism? |
