Did you know?
No one really knows what happened to Amelia Earhart in 1935 when her plane disappeared?
Susan Brownell Anthony was a very brave, courageous, and determined American woman.  She was born a Quaker in Rochester, New York.  Once Anthony met Stanton they were inseperable.  Stanton would write the speeches, and Anthony would give the speeches.  They were a true example of teamwork.

Anthony did something remarkable that will always be remembered.  She actually went to a barber shop in Rochester and demanded that the man let her to register to vote!  She threatened to sue if he didn't let her  register to vote.  The man was intimidated and let her register!  For a couple of weeks the government didn't act, but one day a man came to her door with a warrant for her arrest!  She went upstairs to change so she could look good.  Then she thrust her arms out and said, "If you are going to arrest me like a common criminal, you should handcuff me."  He didn't handcuff her.  Once the trial was set the judge had already made up his mind before the opening arguments.  Since she was a woman she couldn't testify for herself.  The judge said  to the jury, "I order you to find her guilty!"  Her penalty was a one-hundred dollar fine!  Still to this day not a penny of her fine has been paid.
