The Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the New Kingdom are all time periods in Ancient Egypt. These time periods usually started and ended at the beginnings and ends of dynasties. A dynasty is the role of pharaoh passing through a family.

The Old Kingdom

The Old Kingdom was a time period that lasted from 2700 - 2200 BC. In this time period, the Sphinx and Great Pyramid at Giza were built. That is why this period is referred to as the Pyramid age.

The Middle Kingdom

This period lasted from 2100 - 1800 BC. In this time period, the Ancient Egyptians developed a new government where the pharaoh did not have complete power.

The New Kingdom

This period lasted from 1570 - 1080 BC. In this time period, the Ancient Egyptians started out well. They took over many countries. Near the end of this period, though, Ancient Egypt began to fall apart and was taken over.
