Scientists today are trying to figure out what it was like in Ancient Egypt: their kings, their government, their food, lots of things. They need to learn a lot more about the Ancient Egyptians. They already have some pretty interesting facts about them though. A fact that we really enjoyed was that they buried their dead in a different way than we do today. It’s a very strange thing they did. Yes indeed. They mummified you depending on how much money you had. It was a very expensive and long burial process to complete. They would wrap you up in linen and when they were done, you would look like a ball of cloth. Why did they do this so differently from us? Why did they make mummies? Where did the Egyptians put these mummies? They put them in things called tombs. There were many types of tombs. Some tombs were big, some were small. Some were wide while others were tall. Whatever tomb they put a mummy in they painted scenes of the Afterlife on the walls. Only the honest Egyptians could go to the Afterlife. You would always be happy while others followed your every command.

Why They Made MummiesThe Egyptians believed that your soul was a bird with a human head. They also believed that if your body rotted, your spirit would go into a statue buried beside you. Weird, huh?
