If you take a trip to Egypt, you will see gigantic structures. Some will be tall, while others short. Some will be made of limestone, while others are not. The Ancient Egyptians built these structures long, long ago. They built them so well, some still stand today. A pyramid was a structure with a square base that had four triangular sides leading to the top of it. The sphinx was a stone lion with the head of a pharaoh, ram, or hawk.

There are over 90 pyramids in Egypt. Sometimes it took over 20 years to build one. All of the pyramids are on the west side of the Nile River. This is for a religious reason; this is the side of the Nile River on which the sun sets.
