An electric car is a car run by electricity. To power it you
charge it up. To do that, you have to plug the car into an electrical outlet.
When the car is out of energy it will not run any more and only then do you plug
it in and charge it up.
In about 1891 a man named William
Morrison built the first
American electric car. It had six seats and was powered by batteries that were
under the seats. This car became popular very quickly because it was quiet, easy
to operate and didn’t let out the bad smell of gasses. They liked it also
because it didn’t damage roads, blow up or even frighten horses.
