Earth

Earth is the third planet from the sun, and 93 million miles from the Sun's diameter. Earth is in the shape of a sphere. It is slightly flat at the north and south poles. Another name for this kind of sphere is an oblate. The diameter of the Earth is 7,900 miles. The northern hemisphere is a bit longer than Earth's southern hemisphere.

Earth's atmosphere is made out of 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and traces of argon, carbon dioxide, water, and dust. The atmosphere keeps high temperatures and cold temperatures out. It makes the temperature on Earth just right for life. No other planet in the Milky Way Galaxy that we know of has an atmosphere like Earth's atmosphere.

The Earth is in a magnetic pull with the moon and the sun. The magnetic shield keeps radiation out of the surface of the Earth.

The moon is between 221,000 and 253,000 miles away from the Earth. It is 1/4 of the size of Earth. The moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth. The difference of the gravitational pull from the Earth and the moon makes the tides change.
