Procedure:

Materials Needed: |
| white art clay (we used cone 05) |
| large paint brushes |
| clay carving tools |
| kiln |
| tempera or acrylic paints; high gloss medium over the top |
Procedure: |
| 1. Take a block of clay and stick a paint
brush down through the center of it.

| 2. Start forming your totem pole using your
fingers and tools. (Totem poles have faces and animals on them. They tell a
story.)

| 3. Put it in a place where it can dry. |
| 4. Fire in kiln for @ cone 05 approximately 10 hours. |
| 5. Paint as desired. |
| 6. Glaze and fire again |
