You've seen them, you've eaten them,
but you will never want to get
near these!! Do you think that a fish with long
slimy tentacles sound good
enough to eat?
The Medusa is bell-shaped with a mouth
and many long tentacles that
have stingy cells. This strange animal was named
after the Gorgon
Medusa. She was a maiden in Greek mythology that
when ever anyone
looked at her, her hair would turn into snakes and scare
the person away.
The next weird fish we are going to
tell you about is the Sandy Sea
Squirt. It can be found in Alligator Harbor, St. Teresa
and Carrabelle.
These lumpy brown Sea Squirts incorporate sand into their
outer skins
sometimes to hide from their enemy the starfish.
Their tadpole larvae have
a forerunner of a backbone making them among the most
evolved of the
invertebrates. Invertebrates are any animals without
a backbone.
