Hi, this is Melissa and Chris in
this section of our site you will find out about really cool fish like
the Viper Fish and Angler Fish.
When you are at my section of this site you will find out about 3 parts
of the ocean and their Fish:
#1 Eupothic Zone wich is closer
up top.
#2 Bathyal Zone wich is in
the middle.
and
#3 Abyssal Zone wich is cloose
to the bottom.
There will also be GAMES
you can play!
Flying Fish: As
you can tell the flying fish is in the Euphotic Zone(close to the
top). The way the flying fish flies is to throw itself
from the water with the movement of it's tail, to glide it just spreads
it fins to act like wings, the muscles in its tail help it turn. The fish
can fly from 150-1000 feet. The Great White Shark:
was ranked one of the most dangerous sharks. Up to 21 feet long (64 meters).
They live in cool temperature tropic waters, swim powerfully, prey on large
animals such as sea lions, tuna, other sharks. They have attacked human
beings and fishing boats. The Squid: is
similar to the octopus, nautilus, and cuttle fish. They are boneless,
live in all seas, swim in large groups. The groups are called shoals.
Another word for them is sea arrows. They rapidly change colors.
They range from one foot to 40 feet. They are covered with
sucking disks to catch prey. They have good eyes and powerful jaws.
The Anlger Fish:
its bait grows out of its head. It attacks fish that want to eat
it because of its bait. It moves slow, but it eats the fish real
fast. There are different kinds of Angler Fish. They lay up to 2,000,000
eggs at a time. And the eggs float like jelly fish on the surface.
If the male Angler Fish does not find a mate, then it dies because if it
does not suck her blood, it dies. The Gulper
Eel: The young is called larvae and it
looks nothing like the adult eels. They are transparent and shaped
like a leaf or ribbon and can take several years to develop into adults.
The
Rat-Tail Fish: They squirt chemicals into the
water when they are threatened. He glows so he escapes with his own
light.
Deep Sea Shrimp:
They are related to crabs and lobsters. They are popular food.
They are found in fresh salt water and most of them are either gray, brown,
or pink. They eat only plankton. The Oarfish:
has a body like a ribbon and his head is like a horse with a mane.
If a person could dive deep enough, he would be real small compared to
this 9 meter 30 feet long fish. They feed on shellfish and nothing
else is known about them. The Viper Fish:
During the day, they feed in the deepest water. At night they migrate
towards the surface, that is where they prey some more. It is easier
for them to escape their preditors in the dark which is whales and sharks.
