 Week 4, 5, 6

Lemon Juice: The tooth is very soft and yellow. It looks chalky. If you touch it, the pieces break away. The enamel part of the tooth is smaller than at the beginning of the experiment.

Apple Juice: The tooth is brownish orange, but it still is pretty hard. There is a tiny layer of plaque.

Coke: It is so discolored, it looks black. It is very nasty. The tooth is still pretty hard. There is a lot of plaque on it. The biggest change was the color.

Water: The tooth has very little plaque, and it is hard and white. There has been very little change from the beginning.

Final Results: The least amount of break down of the enamel surface was on the tooth that was emerged in the water. The enamel was still hard and white. It did have a slight slime layer that could be wiped off. The enamel of the tooth that was emerged in the apple juice was still hard, but the tooth had a layer of plaque on it. The color of the enamel was an uneven brownish orange. The enamel of the tooth that was emerged in the coke had the greatest change in the color. It was a darkish brown almost black. The tooth had a slight change in the hardness. The enamel of the tooth that was emerged in the pure lemon juice took on the greatest change. The enamel was very soft like a soft cheese. It lost the shape of its original form. The surface was no longer hard. The enamel part of the tooth was smaller than it had been at the start of the study. In this study water was found to be the healthiest liquid for your teeth, pure lemon juice was the most destructive, and Coke stained the tooth the most.

Conclusion: I was surprised what happened to the teeth after the experiment. The best liquid for your teeth is water. The worst for softening your teeth is lemon juice. The apple juice isn't too bad because there was only a little plaque. The worst thing for your teeth is coke because it makes your teeth black and pretty soft. That is why I did my experiment. To find out what liquids are like on teeth if you don't brush for 6 weeks!!!!!

My advice to you is brush your teeth every night and don't drink too much coke!
