The history of the Mayan is a very interesting thing to learn because of all the mysteries. The Mayan people make up one of the largest homogeneous groups of Indians in north of Peru. They lived in large areas like in Mexico`s Yucatan penninsula and parts of the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and some western parts of Honduras. The Mayas are one of the tribes most well known, although they were not the earliest of civilizations. By their artifacts, it is known that they were a highly developed civilization around 1500 B.C.(before Christ). They are also known as one of the most brilliant of the classic groups. The basic culture for the Mayan people was farming. They farmed food like maize, beans, squash and chili. Not only did they cultivated peppers, but also grew things that helped them survive like the cotton plant. |
