The King of Catfish

The red-tailed catfish is truly the king of catfish. It can grow over 200 lbs when properly cared for. Its color pattern is highly recognizable. They have a white stripe running alongside their body and red dorsal fin and caudal fin.

Tank setup

With this fish you need an extremely big tank. Not only that you need an excellent filtration system, because Red-Tails shed their body mucus. It can be seen like a slimy mass.

Feeding

In their natural habitat there said to feed on fish and crustaceans. In an aquarium they will eat just about anything fit into their mouth. They will eat smaller fish in the aquarium too. Don't even think of putting neons in with one. You should also allow for periods of fasting.

Tank Mates

Idea tank mates would be other large catfish, large fish like pacus, and really fast fish.
