The Fish With Character

        Oscars are very popular. Mostly because they are so intelligent. They are said to be the smartest fish. They learn feeding times. They even learn their owners (who feeds them). Some may even jump out of their tank at their owners. Some owners report getting splashed for feeding them late. Their are several varieties of  oscars like tiger, albino, and red. The main bad thing about this fish is that most oscars get Hole In The Head.

Tank setup

With this fish you need a decent sized tank. Since they are powerful fish they need lots of swimming room. They may redecorate your tank. They are curious fish which may wonder what that long, hot , glowing object in the corner is. They have been known to bust heaters and injure themselves. 

Feeding

These fish are carnivorous. They eat only meat. Some foods oscars like are beef heart, live fish, and meaty pellets. Also some cichlid pellets will work. Oscars are very messy eaters. They "spit" out lots of their food. That will feed some of your bottom feeders. It is recommended to feed your bottom feeders additional food. 

Tank Mates

Ideal tank mates would be other cichlids, catfish, and any other large fish.
