Youth Minister

How about a career where you can work with teenagers and share the gospel at the same time? I've got the perfect one. A youth minister is all these things and more! Let's take a look!

A youth minister's job involves working with and ministering to youth ages 12-18. Tom Quarles, youth minister at Grove Level Baptist Church, says that he emphasizes on the spiritual aspect but also helps teens to grow in social and physical aspects as well.

According to Tom, to be a youth minister, no particular training is required. But, as a minister it would be good idea to have some type of religious training. Like I said, it is not necessary, but always, always helpful.

A youth minister will probably spend about 60 hours a week working. When I asked Tom if he was comfortable working this amount of time he said, yes. As long as he has enough time to spend with his wife and two children.

So, do you like what you heard? If so, you can start right now! Develop an interest and knowledge of God's word so that someday when you are a youth minister, you can try to answer questions that future youth may have.
