Special Education is a career that requires a lot of work, but is very rewarding. Let's take a peek at the odds and ands of being this type of teacher. Come on! A special Education is a teacher who works with students with emotional and/or behavior problems. They monitor for progress in these students. They also plan and work with other agencies. As you know very well by now, you must have some sort of degree to be a teacher. To be a Special Education teacher you have to have two. You have to have a B.A. in English, and a M.S. in Special Education. These all will come in handy some day. Ruthie Reed, a Special Education at North Whitfield Middle School, says that she spends about 50 hours a week working. When asked if she was comfortable with that amount of time, she said NO! According to her this job involves a lot, and I mean a lot, of paperwork! Miss Reed gave us a few suggestions for kids who want this career. Number one: start working with children right now! You know things like volunteering, and baby sitting. Keep an open mind and watch how others live. So, go check it out! |
