Physical Therapists

If you ever have a medical treatment that also builds you up emotionally, more than likely it's physical therapy. Let's find out what they do, and see if this is the job for you.

"All day I put people in charge of their lives, and I love every minute of it," said a physical therapist. This person has probably been a great therapist and counselor. They help people who are physically recovering from disease or injury, and get them to a stronger, healthier state. You might go to a physical therapist if you have been in an accident where you were seriously injured, and lost physical abilities, maybe in walking, working with hands, or even helping your body function normally. A physical therapist builds your body back up by exercise and counseling. They may work along with a nutritionist to rebuild your body. They are almost like parents teaching their babies how to walk, crawl, and run. They mainly help people who have been physically and emotionally hurt by injury and disease.

One of your biggest priorities is employment. You might work in your own private clinic, (see physicians pg. for more info.), a nursing home, a hospital, or even in a sports clinic or health club.

To be a physical therapist you must meet standard academic requirements and the state must license you. You need a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from a credited undergraduate program. You must have taken courses in biology, biomechanics, calculus, statistics, chemistry, nutrition, human growth and development, physics, and psychology.

If you are interested in associated careers, here are some to look for: dietitians, nutritionists, human service workers, occupational therapists, physician assistants, nurses, and counselors. To find this, look on an Internet search engine, doctor's office, or further search our website.

So, is this the job for you? Try it and you might change lives.
