Pottery
    The Japanese like handmade things. One of their handmade things are pottery. They’re talented in making pottery. Pottery is a handed down craft. They form and paint pottery by hand. In Japan you can get caught up in pottery very easily.

    Pottery was introduce to Japan by China. Because pottery was so scares only the rich had it. But when tea came along and people began to drink it, there was a demand for pretty pottery.  There also was a religion that drinking tea is part of it. The religion is called Zen Buddhism.

Pottery is a decoration made of clay.

Step 1: To make the clay you need, 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup water. Stir until a doughy consistency.

Step 2: Then shape it and let it dry.

Store Bought Clay

Step 1: To make pottery, a glob of clay is turned on a wheel. It smoothes the clay out. You stick your thumb in it to make a hole.

Step 2: Its shaped by holding your hands on the sides.

Step 3: The clay is cut of with a instrument and made into its shape.

Step 4: To finish, you paint it and put it in the oven.
